Fifth grade has brought their printmaking project to a close over these past two weeks. Since everyone was finishing at their own rate, we went ahead and started a group project that students could join as they completed their final prints. The group painting is of rainbow colored trees. The process incorporates smooth and rough brush strokes as well as some finger painting to give a variety of textures. Some students understood certain steps better than others, so they got to mix and match their talents, helping out classmates with each stage of the process. With everyone working on it, the painting went by quickly, so we introduced the Renaissance last week as well to prepare for this week’s lessons.
