With the mobiles completed, Kindergarten has started on their lessons in ceramics. We’ve been working on making pinch pots and coil pots, and learning the different terms that go with the process. Scoring (drawing lines in the clay to help the pieces stick together) is the most popular stage, as most of the students race to get their lines done the fastest. We practiced with Play-Doh first, and finally got to try out the clay this past Friday. Class time didn’t allow us to get both types of bowls done, but that’s okay. We’ll be finishing the coil pots next week, and then paintings the bowls once they’re dry.
